Biography

Jane Godfrey was born in Buffalo, NY and raised in a nearby small town. She received her BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 1971 at Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her studies at the Central School of Art and Design and Camberwell School of Art in London between 1970-1974. Teaching etching at the Winchester School of Art, she continued with her work exhibiting in London, Bradford, Warwick, Tees Valley and in Germany.

Jane returned to the Washington, DC region in the late 1970’s focusing primarily on painting and exhibited in the Washington area, Richmond, Fredericksburg, MD and in Jamaica, NY and Buffalo. She was an exhibitor in The State Department’s Arts in Embassies program in Bangkok, Thailand.

Her work is included in many private collections throughout the U.S., and in Britain, The Netherlands, and Japan. She is also in the public collections of the Library of Congress and the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC.
